How to Match Your Prom Dress to Your Date's Tux

Choosing the right prom dress is one of the biggest and often toughest decisions so school life. There are many things to consider, such as the theme of the event, trending styles and colours, what style of dress suits you best, and, of course, how to coordinate or match with your date.

Matching your prom dress to your date’s tux is fun. But, it also reminds everyone that you came with a specific person. That can help you feel good about the event and this will translate to confidence in yourself.

The good news is there are several ways to match your prom dress with your date’s tux. But, first of all, you need to select the perfect dress. The best place to start is by taking a look at these prom dresses near me. You are certain to find your perfect dress.

Then, you can make sure your date’s tux matches.

Tie Only

The simplest way to show you’re a couple and match your outfits is for him to wear a tie that is the same colour as your dress. In most cases, your date is likely to be happy to do this. It takes very little effort and doesn’t affect the overall suit they have chosen.

However, be warned, not all date’s will be happy with a pink tie.

Black Suit

Choosing a coloured tie works very well if your date opts for a traditional black suit. Any colour tie will go with this. But, if they want something a little different you’ll need to consider the colour of your dress accordingly.

For example, if your man wants to wear a grey suit then you can wear a pastel-coloured dress, and his pastel tie will go nicely with his suit. Grey is an excellent choice for light or bright dresses.

In contrast, blue and navy suits go better with deep colours, such as burgundy or a deep green. They can also match metallic dresses.

Shirt Colour

In general, it’s best for your date to have a plain white shirt as this fits with any colour scheme and any style of suit. But, if your date is set upon a coloured shirt then you should choose this as the matching colour item instead of the. The two together will be too much and won’t create the refined look you are hoping for.

If your date does opt for a coloured shirt it needs to be one colour and should perfectly match your dress. Adopting this approach may mean they are better off without a tie.

Ass The Corsage

Traditionally your date will give you a corsage. If you speak to them first you can make sure this is a colour that will complement your dress. More importantly, you can make sure your date has a buttonhole flower in the same colour, telling everyone at your prom that you’re an item.

It’s a subtle but stylish way to coordinate your dress with his tux.
