Accessories Worth Splurging On.jpg

5 Accessories Worth Splurging on

Sprucing up your closet is admittedly one of the most enjoyable things to do when you’re in the mood to refresh or spice up your everyday look. Regardless of how you define your style, there are certain wardrobe essentials that make their way into your daily looks. Accessories are the chic little outfit add-ons that can elevate a casual outfit to a fiery head-turner. With such style power, it’s a fair argument that certain accessories are worth dishing out a little extra cash for.

Whether you’re expanding your collection of accessories on a budget or you have your sights set on high-end designer brands, pushing the bill for one or two fashion accessories is a must. But why spend the extra dough? In the fashion industry, quality ranks far above quantity. You could have a dozen cheap crossbody bags that end up biting the bullet only months after purchase, or you could have one pricier purse that lasts a lifetime.

Now comes the golden question, what should you splurge on? Let’s break it down.

1. Shoes

Even though your shoes may be the last piece to an outfit ensemble, your shoe of choice is a crucial factor to your look. Not only do your feet deserve comfortable cushion for all the standing, walking, and moving about you do on any given day, but they deserve to look just as stylish as you do.

Feel good about splurging on a pair of shoes that can be dressed up, dressed down, worn in, worn out, and everything else in between. Your splurged-on pair of shoes should work phenomenally with any number of outfits you could curate from your existing wardrobe. We recommend opting for a fine pair of boots, trainers, or flats.

2. Watch

Though watches are typically thought of as men’s accessories, the industry for women’s watches has exploded with the growing popularity of women wearing cute, chic wristwear. Splurging on impeccable craftsmanship and unique flair comes with the territory (should you hope to find a watch that embodies your individual taste and spirit). No, your watch doesn’t have to be encrusted with diamonds or decked out in rose gold accents to qualify as high-quality. Do a bit of research before dishing out on your splurge-worthy watch.

3. Purse

Handbags have it rough— you tote them around every single day and put them through the wringer whether you notice or not. Truth is, your everyday bag should be crafted well enough to sustain all the slinging and stuffing you subject it to. Sure, it may make sense to save on a cheaper bag due to the inevitable wear and tear, but the higher quality the bag, the more durable it will be.

A better-constructed purse with a higher price tag can survive the abuse. However, you won’t need to redirect to the high-end designer route for a nice, sturdy bag, you may find that there are a variety of mid-level designers that manufacture plenty of quality purses for prices under $200. Check out these designer names:

  • Kate Spade

  • Ted Baker

  • Michael Kors

  • Fossil

4. Sunglasses

Unless you're the type of person who is helplessly prone to losing sunglasses, investing in a pair of truly protective sunglasses makes a world of difference when the sun’s out. Trust me, you'll quickly notice the difference between a pair of sunglasses that are made for trendiness’ sake versus sunglasses engineered with UV protective lenses.

5. Jewelry

There are two types of jewelry out there; affordable novelty jewelry that only comes out to play when the outfit calls for it, and pricier jewels that you wear on a daily basis. When it comes to a staple necklace, bracelet, or ring, dishing out extra cash for jewelry that won't rust, change color, or affect your skin is completely worthwhile.

And that doesn’t necessarily mean spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a single piece! Sterling silver jewelry is compatible with most skin types and maintains its luster well. Can’t afford diamonds? Look into more affordable gemstones like Moonstone, Labradorite, Rose Quartz, and Opalite.

Don’t be afraid to spend a little more than you usually would on these five must-have accessories, they’re worth it!
